Canon recently announced that their MAXIFY MB5350 and Maxify MB5050 multi-function business inkjet printers (sold as the MAXIFY MB5340 and MAXIFY MB5040 in South Africa) recently won the Red Dot Design Award: Product Design 2015 for design excellence.
The award is organised by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, a design institute from Essen in Germany. The Red Dot Awards are among the most prestigious design awards in the world. The awards are presented to the most outstanding designs for products launched within the past two years.
Canon released the MAXIFY MB5350 and MB5050 in October 2014 as the flagship printers in their MAXIFY series, an all-new range of multi-function business inkjet printers designed to speed up business printing. Canon developed a new printhead and more efficient paper-feed system for the printers to improve productivity for their users.
This, along with the printers’ symmetrical, simple and compact body designs, led to these Canon inkjet machines being recognised by the Red Dot jury.
The Red Dot Award joins other awards that the printers have won, including the Good Design Award 2014: Best 100 (Japan) and an iF Design Award (Germany), an award that sits alongside the Red Dot Awards in terms of international prominence.
According to a press release from Canon, the company is encouraged by the recognition of their design excellence, and they will continue striving to make products that combine the highest levels of performance and design.
All of this year's winning products, including the Canon MAXIFY MB5350 and MB5050, will be showcased at a special exhibit to be held from June 30 to July 26 2015 at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany.
